Maupassant, Octave et moi
May 7-9, 2027
The Calderwood Pavilion - Boston
🇫🇷 Performed in French with English captions.
Set one year after the death of author Guy de Maupassant, the Société des Gens de Lettres hosts a fundraising gala with Paris’s artistic elite to erect a statue in his honor at Parc Monceau.
Madame Pasca, a famous late-19th-century actress and close friend of Maupassant, is scheduled to perform four of his short stories (Regret, Mon uncle Jules, Décoré !, and Le rendez-vous). However, when her co-star Paul Porel falls ill, she must urgently find a replacement, leading to an audition with Octave Lacombe, an obscure actor recommended by Émile Zola.

From the Press
"The delightful complicity of the two fine actors is enchanting. Likewise, the sharpness of the chosen short stories—funny, cruel, and alive—is impeccably delivered."
– Le Journal du Dimanche
"This remarkable adaptation immerses us both in the world of Maupassant and in the literary and artistic atmosphere of the era."
